Three years ago, I released Midsummer Dream, a project into which I poured my heart, soul, and creativity into every note. Inspired by the timeless themes of love, desire, and the complexities of relationships—much like Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream—this EP was a journey through the highs and lows of romance, set against a backdrop of Latin, Caribbean, Afrobeat, R&B, and pop fusion. This project was designed to showcase how R&B cannot be boxed in or limited to one style. My musical philosophy is rooted in storytelling and that is the “blues,” and we can use any musical backdrop to tell those stories. The "rhythm" can be a slow jam, mid-groove, hip-hop, or, in this case, an Afro-Latin-Caribbean fusion—as long as we bring the "blues." That’s what R&B means to me.
Nyasia reflects on its impact, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the love and support you’ve shown this project.
